Lead escort driver of a large truck traveling through Magnolia, just before the county fair, was identified as Jeffery A. Newton of Virgilian, Virginia. He was arrested on account of criminal mischief. Newton used his lead vehicle to try and move oncoming traffic out of the way, striking it with a metal pole. 
The vehicle he hit was an off-duty Magnolia police officer, and Newton was jailed that evening with a bond set at $585.

On September 26, police received alert of a plan crash in Grady, Arkansas at 1:28 PM. The only passenger was the pilot and he received immediate medical attention. Police worked closely with volunteer fire fighters and EMS personnel. 
The investigation has been opened under the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The pilot survived and was only injured.

3. Thieves steal $1M worth of craft whiskey from Washington distillery (National)

In late July of this year, reported on September 27, thieves showed up to a distillery in a freight truck. They held the paperwork that stated they would be picking up the shipment of whiskey and transporting it to its next destination. 

But the whiskey never arrived at its next destination. 
These bottles were rare, so it will be rather difficult for the thieves to get them on the market or take them out of the country, and reselling them on a second-hand market is generally illegal. 
Mark Gillespie, the host of the Whisky Cast podcast who has published more than 3,800 tasting notes for different whiskey varieties says "if someone tries to offer you a case of Westland whiskey right now, I'd call the cops,"

Vijay, who is a well-known actor and goes by only one name, launched a political party last year. A rally was hosted by himself because he is running for election.
At least 31 died at this rally and over 50 were injured.

5. National Recognition: ABET accreditation awarded to SAU’s Engineering and Mechanical Engineering degrees (Local)

Southern Arkansas University has announced that the bachelor of science in engineering and the bachelor of science in mechanical engineering programs have been awarded accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.
“This milestone confirms what we have always known -- that SAU Engineering is delivering a high-quality education that meets the highest standards worldwide,” said Dr. Abdel Bachri, professor of physics and dean of the College of Science and Engineering at SAU.

Andrew Salgado was set to begin college in August, though he knew it wasn't for him. He figured "I can't not go to college" because that's how we're trained to think. Just weeks before starting, his mother convinced him to change his major to a skilled trade to highlight the opportunities for people across the nation who have a problem-solving disability like he does.
Salgado began filming his work days for TikTok inspiring others and teaching them about the trade.
